Nancy Coleman

An experienced executive who has previously collaborated with schools, local business, and community members will soon take the leadership role of the Alignment Collaborative for Education (ACE), a not-for-profit organization that engages organizations, business, and community members to support the priorities of School District U-46.  Nancy Coleman of Lake Zurich will begin as executive director July 17.

“We are very pleased to announce this appointment,” said Board Chair Linda Deering Dean, President of Advocate Sherman Hospital. “Nancy brings with her a breadth of perspectives and experience in both private industry and public education. She will bring leadership and creativity to the organization and has a deep understanding of the importance of community partnerships in assuring student success.”

The search committee, led by Board members Pastor Nat Edmond and Peter Sikorski, led a regional search and selection process, narrowing down a field of nearly 50 candidates to ultimately select Ms. Coleman as the new Executive Director.

"We're excited to welcome Nancy Coleman as director of ACE," said CEO Tony Sanders." We know Nancy will hit the ground running and successfully work with all members of our community to support the District's Strategic Plan and priorities. She has a proven track record of collaboration and clearly understands that ACE is not a program but an approach that embraces the idea that we're better when we're working together.”

Ms. Coleman has served nearly 30 years in executive leadership for both profit and not-for-profit work. As dean of institutional advancement for Orangeburg Calhoun Technical College in Orangeburg, S.C., Ms. Coleman established and managed more than $3 million in grants and endowments. Ms. Coleman also served in private industry as human resources manager for Pratt & Whitney in Columbus, Ga., where she worked closely with the local school district where she oversaw the recruitment and training for a new 200-employee plant. From 2002 to the time she moved to Illinois in 2014, Ms. Coleman worked for Columbus Technical School in Columbus, Ga., where she served in a variety of leadership roles, including grants administrator, and executive vice president of economic development.  Since her move with her family to Illinois, Ms. Coleman has worked as Executive Director for the Educational Foundation of Lake Zurich Community Unit School District 95.

“I am excited to join a community that proactively supports its public schools with a shared goal to raise student achievement” Ms. Coleman stated. “ A community's future is shaped by its children and youth, and I look forward to working with the Elgin community to build those positive outcomes for their benefit.”
